Johnstone's Trade Wood Primer is a solvent-based primer formulated for softwood and non-oily hardwoods, in both interior and exterior applications. Ideal for use in conjunction with , this wood primer sets the stage for a durable finish enhancing the overall performance and longevity of your paintwork.

Clean Up | Remove as much paint as possible from the equipment before cleaning with White Spirit or Turpentine Substitute |
Preparation
Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dirt and grease.
- Remove any loose or flaking material
- Rub down bare timber surfaces with abrasive paper to remove raised grains and sharp edges
- Apply Knotting Solution to knots and resinous areas and allow to dry thoroughly
Application
Always test a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results
- Stir thoroughly before use to ensure the paint is completely mixed
- Johnstone's Trade Wood Primer can be applied by brush
- Prime all joints, end grains and other surfaces liberally, brushing the paint well into the timber
- Ensure maximum ventilation during application and drying
Always follow manufacturer's instructions found on the tin.
Note: On oily or resinous timber Johnstone’s Aluminium Wood Primer is more suitable.
Aftercare & Storage
Store the paint away from heat and flame.
After use firmly secure the lid and store in a secure upright position.
